BB92 Press-Fit (MTB) Bottom Bracket Compatibility

Also known as: BB92, Press Fit 92, PF41 MTB, BB89.5

BB92 is the wider, mountain-bike sibling of BB86: the same 41mm press-fit bore built around a 24mm spindle, but 92mm wide (89.5mm on some road/cross frames). It is the dominant press-fit standard on modern MTB frames.

Like BB86 it is native to 24mm Shimano cranks, with reducer bottom brackets available for SRAM DUB and other spindles.

My BB92 bottom bracket creaks. What can I do?

Press-fit creak usually comes from insufficient preload or a bore that is fractionally out of tolerance. Options include a thread-together (compression) bottom bracket that clamps across the shell, careful greasing/retaining compound on the cups, or (on frames with a ~46mm bore) converting to a threaded T47 bottom bracket for a permanent fix.
